I was browsing DA, and saw this as a great composition. He's got some pretty cool stock photos for reference for any artist out there looking for new material... Of course, as always, I had to change a few things while drawing it. Shortened the sleeves, and made the jacket into a button down shirt. Elongated earphone cables (my signature), and threw in my favorite fictional band, Death Star, on the tshirt. It was a quick sketch that I really liked so I decided to color the line work in photoshop to better reflect the source image. At the time, I was writing with a pen so I just started to lay down lines with that. No blue line under drawing or anything, just straight up line on paper. I usually don't do it this way, but sometimes it is more relaxing to draw without the "net". Just give yourself over to the line instead of worrying about the process of it all. Also, it allowed me to give in more to my own rendering style in little areas. One of the things I really like about this picture are the eyes. That's what made me want to draw this anyway when I saw the photo. The shot was just so well done.
