I drew this after seeing a cool pic by klaamka [link]. It was a quick sketch that I really liked so I decided to color the line work in photoshop to better reflect the source image. At the time, I was writing with a pen so I just started to lay down lines with that. No blue line under drawing or anything, just straight up line on paper.

I usually don’t do it this way, but sometimes it is more relaxing to draw without the “net”. Just give yourself over to the line instead of worrying about the process of it all. Also, it allowed me to give in more to my own rendering style in little areas.

One of the things I really like about this picture are the eyes. That’s what made me want to draw this anyway when I saw the photo. The shot was just so well done. Unfortunately, I don’t think I quite caught the full effect, but it was close enough for me.
